Project Studio

Learning Becomes Real When Students Ship Something

The MODARA Project Studio is where students combine technical skills, product thinking and presentation. Explore the kinds of work our students learn to design, build and demo.

A MODARA student project in progress
The Studio Approach

From First Exercise to Demo Day

Projects start small — a page, a widget, a script — and grow into complete products. Along the way students learn planning, versioning, feedback and presentation: the habits that turn code into craft.

  • Build weekly — small, frequent projects keep momentum and confidence high.
  • Review together — code reviews and critiques sharpen quality and communication.
  • Demo publicly — every cohort ends with students presenting finished work.

Selected Student Projects

Examples of the products students learn to build across our four programs.

Portfolio Website — HTML & CSS cohort projectFrontend

Portfolio Website

A personal portfolio built with semantic HTML and modern CSS. Students practice layout systems, typography and responsive design while telling their own story online.

Weather Application — JavaScript cohort projectProgramming

Weather Application

A live weather dashboard that fetches real data from a public API. Students learn fetch, async JavaScript, error states and clean interface design.

Task Manager — React cohort projectFrontend

Task Manager

An interactive task tracker with add, edit, filter and complete flows. A deep exercise in state, events and building UI that feels professional.

E-commerce Interface — React cohort projectFrontend

E-commerce Interface

A product listing and detail experience with cart interactions. Students compose reusable components and manage shared state like working developers.

School Management System — Node.js cohort projectBackend

School Management System

A student records API with courses, enrollment and reporting endpoints. An introduction to data modeling, validation and real backend conventions.

API Application — Node.js capstone projectBackend

API Application

A full-stack note-taking app: an Express API serving JSON to a React frontend. Students see the complete request journey across the stack.

Project Quality

We Ask More Than “Does It Run?”

A strong student project shows the learner can understand a problem, make technical and design choices, communicate the workflow and improve after feedback.

Problem Clarity

Who is the user? What problem are we solving? What matters most in the first version?

Technical Structure

Is the solution understandable, maintainable and built with appropriate tools?

User Experience

Can someone understand the interface and complete the important tasks?

Presentation

Can the student demonstrate the product, explain choices and respond to questions?
